Why Don't They Just Stop?

An Educational Forum Sponsored by the Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Addictions Ministry

Tuesday Evenings, September 8, 15, 22 from 6:30 to 8:15 pm

If you’ve wondered about:

  1. The physiological and psychological aspects of addiction
  2. The suffering and its impact on our families, communities and society
  3. Latest treatment modalities
  4. How to get or give support that really helps

Please join us for an in-depth exploration of addiction, its effects on families, various approaches to recovery and a Unitarian Universalist perspective of hope. Introducing each session, we will present excerpts from the ground-breaking HBO Documentary - Why Don't They Just Stop which presents the latest medical advances in understanding and treating addiction, as well as the heart-breaking stories and societal impacts of addiction.

Each session will be facilitated by Rev. Dr. Beth Johnson, CCDC, and other certified addiction professionals; and will include time for questions and discussion. Community resources and referrals will also be available.

Palomar Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Addictions Ministry seeks to serve as a resource for help, hope and wholeness for our Congregation, our community and for individuals dealing with addictions:   their own or those affecting their friends, family or co-workers. It is comprised of Unitarian Universalist ministers and lay people committed to empowered addictions recovery and support for all those affected.
